At The Purse, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and share your information when you use our mobile application and services.

1. Introduction

The Purse ("we," "us," "our," or "Company") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes our practices regarding the collection and use of information through our mobile application (the "App").

By downloading, installing, or using The Purse, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our privacy practices, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

Authentication Data: When you sign in using Apple Sign In, we receive your email address and name
Profile Information: Display name, profile photo, handicap (if provided), and Venmo username
Tournament Data: Your tournament picks, entries, and group memberships
Communication: Messages, feedback, or support requests you send us

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique identifiers, mobile network information
Usage Data: Features used, actions taken, time spent in the App, crash reports
Camera: If you choose to upload a profile photo, we access your camera or photo library

2.3 Information from Third Parties

Organizer Payment Info: Group organizers may optionally display a Venmo username as a convenience for external payment arrangements between members. The Purse does not integrate with Venmo, process payments, or receive any data from Venmo.
Public Data: PGA Tour leaderboard data and tournament information from ESPN

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

To provide and maintain the App and its features
To authenticate your identity and secure your account
To track tournament entries, picks, and standings
To calculate scores and earnings
To send you notifications about tournament updates, payment reminders, and results
To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
To analyze usage patterns and improve the App
To comply with legal obligations
To detect and prevent fraud or security issues

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 Firebase (Google)

We use Firebase for authentication, real-time database services, and cloud functions. Firebase collects certain device and usage information. See Google Firebase Privacy Policy.

4.2 External Payments

Important: The Purse does not process, hold, or distribute payments of any kind. Group organizers may optionally display a Venmo username so members can arrange entry fee payments directly between themselves outside the App. The Purse has no integration with Venmo and receives no payment data from any payment processor.

4.3 Apple Sign In

We use Apple's authentication service to let you sign in securely. Your basic profile information is subject to Apple's privacy policy. See Apple Privacy Policy.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it. Historical tournament data and standings may be retained for competitive record purposes.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
Secure authentication via Apple Sign In
Regular security audits
Limited access to personal data by authorized personnel only

However, no security system is impenetrable. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Privacy Rights

7.1 Access & Portability

You have the right to request a copy of your personal data. Contact us at ahunter916@gmail.com to request your data in a portable format.

7.2 Correction & Deletion

You can update your profile information directly in the App. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us.

7.3 Opt-Out

You can disable push notifications and marketing emails through your App settings or by contacting us.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA & CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

Know: What personal information is collected and how it's used
Delete: Request deletion of personal information we've collected
Opt-Out: Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share your data)
Non-Discrimination: We do not discriminate against users who exercise their privacy rights

9. European & UK Privacy Rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or UK GDPR respectively:

Right to Rectification: You can request corrections to inaccurate data
Right to Erasure: You can request deletion of your data
Right to Restrict Processing: You can limit how we use your data
Right to Data Portability: You can request your data in a portable format

10. Children's Privacy

The Purse is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete such information immediately.

11. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" feature. Because there is no consistent industry standard for DNT recognition, The Purse does not currently respond to DNT browser signals. However, you can limit tracking through your device settings.

12. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from your home country. By using The Purse, you consent to such transfers.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. We will notify you of material changes via email or through the App. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

15.2 Social Features

The Purse allows you to join groups and compete with friends. Information you choose to share with groups (name, photo, picks) may be visible to other group members.

15.3 Analytics & Performance

We analyze app performance and user behavior using Firebase. This data is aggregated and used to improve the App.
